Ayr Curling Club are offering a free session to all essential workers across Ayrshire as a way of saying thank you for their efforts.

Workers and their families will be able to enjoy a session on the house, after the club said they wanted to show their appreciation for the hard work put in by workers since the start of the pandemic.

We reported last month how Ayr Curling Club’s future has been secured thanks to a Scottish Government funding package.

The club are using these sessions to show their gratitude for the support over the last year.

Scottish Curling Development Officer at Ayr Ice Rink, Angela Kyle said: “We wanted to find a way to say thank you in our own way.

“We thought it could also lead to people trying something new and finding something that they enjoy and can take on as a hobby.

“We do sessions that are for total beginners so we will offer that for people in that category.”

The sessions will open to essential workers and the families of members who are over 12 years old. The club will also run activities for any young family members whilst others are on the rink.

Workers across Ayrshire are being welcomed to register before May 31. The club will then close registration and sessions will be planned out to allow regulations to be followed.
