Three Ayrshire College students have organised a charity auction that will be conducted live on Facebook for the Ayrshire Hospice at 7.30pm on Friday, April 30.

Students Chris Cambers, Gary Brennan and Merrick all study HNC Events at the Ayr Campus of Ayrshire College, and have organised the event as part of their coursework.

The Ayrshire Hospice took care of Chris’s grandfather in his final days and Chris was eager to fundraise for them. The Ayrshire Hospice has provided the team with t-shirts, banners and balloons for the auction night.

The charity auction lot will have 20-30 items, including an afternoon tea at Trump Turnberry, a bungee jump, and a signed Ayr United football and top.

Speaking about the auction, Chris said: “We know that a lot of people’s purses will be tight right now because of the pandemic, so we’d be happy to ultimately raise around £300, but obviously we’re hoping to get as much as we can for the Ayrshire Hospice.

“My Papa passed away at the Ayrshire Hospice and we’re just looking to give something back.

“We’re still looking to gather in more prizes, so if anyone would like to put something up at the auction for charity then please get in touch at chritopher9138@gmail.com”.

Ayrshire Hospice are always looking for fundraising ideas, and were delighted when the students came up this.

Claire Stuart-Paulin, Senior Fundraiser, said: “Thank you to Christopher and his colleagues for hosting this auction event to raise money for the Ayrshire Hospice.

“Fundraising events hosted by our fantastic supporters in the local community are vital in allowing our clinical team to deliver excellent end of life care to those who need it across Ayrshire. Good luck to Christopher and the team and we hope they have a great night.”
