Whiteleys Retreat has been named as South Ayrshire Council’s new Employee Charity Partner.

Each year council staff vote to decide which local charity they would like to support. This time, Whiteleys Retreat came out on top after receiving the highest number of votes.

The Ayr-based charity provides vital therapeutic respite breaks for children, young people and their families with cancer or life altering illness in Ayrshire.

The partnership officially began on Thursday, April 1, and will run for a 12-month period before next year’s choice is made.

Speaking about the partnership, Maxine Allan, Founder and CEO of Whiteleys Retreat, said it will be a welcomed connection that will provide a much needed boost after the last year.

She said: “We are overwhelmed to have been chosen this year as South Ayrshire Council’s Employee Charity Partner.

“This partnership will help the charity raise much needed funds. However it is not only about funds; it’s imperative that we raise awareness of the vital services that we offer at Whiteleys Retreat. We aim to reach every child, young person and family who needs our support, and with the council’s help – we are heading in the right direction.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for the charity. We look forward to a positive year ahead for us all.”

Chief Executive of South Ayrshire Council Eileen Howat added: “Whiteleys Retreat is clearly a very popular choice with our employees, and I look forward to working with their team to help support this wonderful local cause.”
