The Gaiety has announced its brand new spring season programme for 2021.

With things being different this year and curtains still closed, the theatre wanted to continue providing online entertainment and education for its audiences.

The new session includes creative writing workshops and family shows.

All of this year’s entertainment will be produced online, so it can be enjoyed safely and in keeping with current restrictions.

Speaking about the new season, Jeremy Wyatt, Chief Executive, Ayr Gaiety Partnership said: “Our theatre may not be open, but we are committed to supporting our community, in whatever way we can.

“Since March 2020, we’ve created more than 20 new films including our alternative ‘binge-worthy’ Pantomime, ‘The Scunner That Stole Christmas’ and created opportunities for freelance emerging artists, supporting them to create new work”.

Off-stage and offline, The Gaiety provided grant funding of over £200,000 to local community organisations offering wellbeing support, essentials, and emergency food supplies.

As the 2021 season approaches, the group are hopeful about their future and they know that their shows can continue, with support from the people of Ayrshire and beyond.

Last week, The Gaiety was awarded £196,000 in funding from Creative Scotland’s Culture Collective fund to continue to build on their work within the Ayrshire community.

During lockdown, the Gaiety have committed to creating connection by engaging at least 15,000 people as viewers and participants.
