Active Travel Hub Ayr have launched a variety of Facebook Live videos on cycle safety and skills.

Like many places, current restrictions have meant the hub has had to overhaul the way in which it delivers its services.

The videos highlight a number of important factors whilst cycling, such as road positioning and road priorities.

Active Travel Hub worker, Rory Maccoll said it’s important they are still able to deliver these services and that people know that there is help and information out there if they need it.

He told the Advertiser: “Most of our job with the project is face to face and practical.

“A lot of people still think that because things have had to change so much, that information like this is no longer available.

“It’s so important for us to spread the message and let everyone know that there is help out there for them.

“These videos are about us continuing the work we do so often and ensuring that people are being kept as safe as they possibly can be”.

The main reason for the hub doing the Facebook videos was to engage with their audience and because of the ever-changing scenario.

Rory says that he remembers what it was like for him when he first started learning how to ride a bike, and how there was very little information available to help him. He says these videos are for people of any age and any experience.

He added: “If you learn the basics of where you need to be on the road, then it helps people massively with their confidence.

“If stuff like this was available when I was learning to cycle, it would’ve been invaluable.
