A man was rushed to hospital after being slashed with what police described as a 'bladed weapon' in Ayr.

The incident happened at a property in Campbell Court at around 6.30pm on Monday, February 8.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 47-year-old man suffered a serious facial injury as a result of the assault.

The victim was taken to hospital before being released following treatment.

Detective Constable Janet Ferguson from Ayr CID said: “The victim has suffered a nasty wound to his face however we know little about the suspect who entered the property.

“They are described as wearing a green jacket however we do not know their gender or any other physical description of them.

“We’d ask anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the Campbell Court area on Monday evening, or anyone with private CCTV which may have captured a person attending the area wearing such clothing, to provide relevant information and footage to officers as soon as possible.”
