The communities of West Kilbride and the Three Towns have outdone themselves by helping 2020’s Poppy Appeal beat last year’s total.
The total counted so far is £15,510.83, with more donations still to be tallied.
Paul Swainson, area organiser, said: “The generosity during the poppy period was magnificent... it made me so proud that our community remembers those that have given all and still give all. Our servicemen and women owe you all a round of applause for the donations you have all made.”
Mr Swainson said that with clubs, restaurants, pubs and other venues closed the generous donations were ‘unbelievable’.
He said: “A big thank you must be given to all our volunteers the auditors, banking staff and you the fantastic community of our area.”
