AN AYR gym has remained committed to bettering the health and wellbeing of the local community by introducing a number of engaging ways to support their clients through the coronavirus pandemic.

Bene-FIT Health and Fitness has continuously adapted to help not only members but the wider public to transform their lives through fitness, despite the difficulties posed by the crisis.

Ayr Advertiser:

The team’s dedication to the lives of the people of Ayr was recently recognised through their success in the High Street Hero awards, where they were commended for their work during the first lockdown.

The gym set up a free Facebook group for members and non-members to receive workout and nutrition advice, and also loaned gym equipment to encourage clients to keep fit.

Now, Bene-FIT have showed renewed resilience by launching an outdoor gym, something which proved particularly popular after gyms and leisure facilities were forced to close during Level 4 restrictions.

Dylan Harper, Senior Marketing Manager, said: “We’ve been well supported by the community so it was about giving back during these strange times of COVID.

“The team was of the opinion that Tier 4 shouldn’t stop members accessing support and guidance if needed. We provided outdoor supervised sessions in the gym car park for people to work out independently but with a qualified trainer present.

“Bene-FIT is not just a gym where you come along, workout and then leave. We’re a real team.

“We also set challenges for members throughout Tier 4 including a Mount Kilimanjaro challenge to see who could get there quickest in terms of accummulating steps throughout the day.

“It’s about finding different ways to motivate people.”

With the region moving into Level 3 from Friday, December 11, Bene-FIT is now the only gym in Ayr to open 24/7, with all COVID secure regulations in place.

The team got back up and running on Saturday, and staff say the response has been immense, with only limited availability membership remaining.

The supervised workout sessions will remain

in place in the absence of the gym’s regular class-based programme.

Tony Murphy, Bene-FIT Owner and Founder, said: “At Bene-FIT, we continually take the approach that we’re more than just a gym to our members.

“We’re a team and a community which helps people stay healthy. That’s why

we’re committed to working safely to provide a top class fitness experience to the people of Ayr”.
