A Three Towns care home is dealing with several confirmed or suspected coronavirus infections.
Abbotsford Nursing Home in Ardrossan is working closely with NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Health Protection Team and North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership as it deals with the outbreak.
The NHS did not confirm the number of positive cases linked to the outbreak at the Eglinton Road facility.
Lynne McNiven, joint director of public health, said: "NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Health Protection Team and the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working closely with a care home in North Ayrshire where a number of individuals have either a confirmed or suspected case of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
"We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.
"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.
"We would like to remind people of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately"
