SIX people have been charged this week in realtion to alleged supply of Class A drugs in Ayr as part of a police crackdown. 

Officers have carried out 10 raids across the Ayr North Area since Monday, November 23 as part of their operation to combat the dealing of drugs in Ayrshire.

Raids were focused on addresses in Russell Drive, Princess Court and Victoria Street. 

Five men and one woman have been charged with alleged drugs supply offences, police obstruction and possesion of controlled drugs. 

Police seized an amount of Class A drugs, cash and other drug paraphernalia during their searches. 

The six who were charged will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and will appear in court at a later date.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Area Commander at South Ayrshire said: “We continue to gather intelligence and receive complaints from the public in Ayr North about those involved in drug dealing.

“This week’s activity sends a strong message to the local community that we will continue to treat this as a priority, given the level of community concern and the harm it causes. It also sends a similar message to those involved in alleged drug dealing activity that the police will take action and their illegal activities will not be tolerated in the local community.

“I would like to thank the public for providing information to the police and other agencies on those who deal drugs, and to the officers for their hard work over the course of the week.
