A flood alert warning has been issued for Glasgow as train services to and from Edinburgh have been cancelled. 

Due to heavy rain, ScotRail warned commuters coming to and from the capital that services will be either cancelled, delayed or revised. 

A Tweet reads: "We've had reports of flooding at Hartwood, services between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Shotts may be cancelled, delayed or revised."

Meanwhile, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued a flood alert for the West and Central Scotland for today. 

The environmental regulator has warned Glasgow residents to remain vigilant and take necessary procedures to protect properties. 

A statement reads: "From late afternoon Monday and through Tuesday there is a risk of flooding from surface water and small watercourses. Most at risk are known trouble spots on the road network, and possibly individual properties.

"Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.
