Primary school children’s artwork is on display at an Ayr bank after completing a special project with a university.

P7 Pupils from Newton Primary were taught by a UWS university lecturer.

Their efforts have been praised by an education boss for achieving excellence in art.  Work stopped due to COVID-19 but dedicated young artists Abby, Evie and Keisha managed to go into the school during the holiday.

The creative trio completed the work before starting Ayr Academy in August.

And their artwork has featured in the Clydesdale Bank in the town.

The had to undertake 14 challenging activitie,s including studying the art of self-portraits, examining colour and painting.  It challenged them beyond the normal primary school curriculum.

The project is linked to the PGDE Art Teaching course at UWS.

Associate Lecturer at UWS School of Education and Social Sciences Phil Martin acted as a volunteer tutor.
