AN OUTBREAK of coronavirus has been confirmed at an Ayr care home.

Rozelle Holm Farm is dealing with a number of people who have positive and suspected cases of COVID-19.

Due to confidentiality it is not known whether any residents have been infected.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Health Protection team and South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working with the care home.

Joy Tomlinson, Joint Director of Public Health said: "NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Health Protection Team and the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working closely with a care home in South Ayrshire where a number of individuals have either a confirmed or suspected case of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

"We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.

"We would like to remind people of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately."

Rozelle Holm Farm were unable to comment at this time.
