A PERSON has sadly died after being hit by a train.
Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday evening, responding to a report of a casualty on the tracks.
Trains were delayed between Milngavie, Motherwell and Cumbernauld in both directions.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police: "We were called to the line near Whifflet railway station at 5.34pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and officers are working to identify the deceased and notify their next of kin."
