A MAN has died after he was found injured in Ayr. 

A 47-year-old man was discovered on Sunday (October 25) afternoon on Walker Road around 12.40pm. 

He was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police have launched a probe into the death which is being treated as unexplained. 

Detectives are appealing to the public for information.

Detective Sergeant Craig Semple said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this death. A post mortem examination will be held in due course, however in the meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.

“A number of people went to assist the injured man on Wilson Street, Ayr, and I would ask anyone who assisted who has not yet spoken to police to please contact officers.

“Anyone with information that may assist our ongoing enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 2161 of October 25."
