Catrine Bowling Club will close this weekend due to an individual who recently attended the green testing positive for COVID-19.

The club made the announcement on their Facebook page on Wednesday, September 30, stating that the individual had visited the green on the weekend of September 25.

It is said that the individual developed mild symptoms on Monday, September 28.

The club assured members that all the relevant information has been handed over to Track and Trace and that the premise is undergoing a deep clean.

The club is expected to reopen on Friday, October 9.

In a Facebook statement, Catrine Bowling Club said: "Catrine Bowling Club will be closed this weekend for the premises to get deep cleaned. Unfortunately, someone who was at the green over the weekend has tested positive for COVID-19.

"I will advise anyone who was at the green over the weekend to stay vigilant for any symptoms relating to COVID-19. We are quite sure track and trace will be in touch with everyone who was at the green this weekend.

"Everyone stay safe and get tested if any symptoms show.

"Also I would advise anyone who hasn't already done so to download the track and trace app from NHS Scotland."

Later that day, Catrine Bowling Club gave an update on the situation.

The club said: "I have now forwarded all the relevant information over to the Contact Tracers. Hopefully they will be in touch with everyone who was at the green over the weekend soon.

"I'm not 100% sure if everyone will be contacted cause it could depend on what time you were at the green and when they were at the green. That is the reason why you are requested to put down the times when you enter and leave the premises.

"Also I would like to thank that person for letting me know as soon as they could. They had no obligation to do that. It lets us, as a club, let you know well in advance of any contact tracers of the situation.

"That way people who are key workers can get tested as soon as possible and everyone else be on heightened alert of any of the symptoms.

"This person only had symptoms for one day (that was on Monday 28) and it was only a slight fever so hopefully the transmission will be very low (if any transmission happened).

"We feel as a club, we have done everything we could to protect our patrons as much as we possibly could and would like to thank all members and visitors for following the guidelines put in place at the club.

"Hopefully we will reopen on the weekend October 9 after we deep clean the place this weekend and the following week.

"We as a club won't hesitate to keep the club closed for longer if necessary because our priority is to the wellbeing of our members, visitors and the wider community of Catrine.

"Everyone stay safe and let this be a warning that this virus isn't going away anytime soon and keep following the government guidelines and always wear a mask."
