TURNBERRY'S hotelier has tested positive for coronavirus. 

Donald Trump, who owns the luxurious Ayrshire resort announced his diagnosis in a tweet earlier today, following a positive test from one of his closest aides Hope Hicks.

The US President and wife first lady Melania has also tested positive for COVID-19 and both are in quarantine. 

Ms Hicks returned a positive test on Thursday, with president Trump later tweeting: "@FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immeditately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

US property tycoon Trump bought the grand South Ayrshire hotel and golf course in 2014.

The famous Ailsa course was transformed as part of a £200million refurbishment which also boosted the hotel and spa.

More than 100 guest rooms at the hotel were upgraded, including four suites, to offer luxury accommodation with a helicopter shuttle service also available to several destinations.
