I HAD the misfortune, or was it fortune, to tune in to 10 Downing Street’s coronavirus briefing on Wednesday. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The garbled messages coming over the airwaves left me saying “Thank goodness I live in Scotland and get clear precise guidance daily.”

Having been involved in education I totally appreciate the need for clarity, accuracy and simplicity to get any message or instruction across, be it to a Primary 1 class or to the population at large.

Perhaps if Professor Chris Whitty was to tune in to some of Professor Jason Leitch’s presentations, he may realise that stammering over illegible statistical slides will do nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

And don’t get me started on students going home for Christmas – all I want for Christmas is a vaccine.
