An Irvine coffee shop is opening up a second branch in Ayr with a third planned for Glasgow.

GRO Coffee at Irvine Harbourside opened in 2015 and has been a huge hit with locals and caffeine-lovers from further-afield.

Now, the socially-conscious company will be taking over the Frankie and Benny's location in Ayr, with hints of plans for a Glasgow location.

Gordon Rennie, owner of the shop, told of 'the hustle and the grind' to make his dreams a reality.

He said he is still 'wondering' how he got there having been in a derelict apartment just two years ago.

Posting on GRO's social media, he said: "This pic[ture] is me and Joey Gro finding some beer crates for seats in our derelict apartment just over two years ago after another long day.

"Even in that moment, we had a vision and a plan, and a determination to make it a reality.

"We just never gave up."

Gordon thanked the loyalty of customers who have supported the eco-friendly, dog-loving coffeehouse.

The new location on Whitletts Roudabout is undergoing renovations to get it ready to welcome coffee-lovers with the stylish surroundings those in Irvine are used to.

On National Coffee Day, it is welcome-news for lovers of the drink across Ayrshire

But GRO also services up delicious hand-baked treats as well a delicious organic dishes, which it makes an effort to source from sustainable suppliers.

It has yet to be announced when the new place on Highfield Drive will open.
