A car that was torched near TK Maxx in Ayr last night was deliberate, police have confirmed.
The vehicle went up in flames on the evening of Monday, August 31 as crews rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze which took place near to the police station.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.40pm on Monday, 31 August, police were called to the River Street area of Ayr following a report of a car on fire within a car park.
"Enquiries have established that the fire was wilful and officers are investigating."
Smoke could be seen billowing from the car park onto the nearby main road while the car was ablaze.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We recieved a call at 7.39pm to a car that was on fire within the car park at TX Maxx.
"The fire has since been extinguished."
