A woman has suffered serious injuries after she was knocked down by a van in Ayr yesterday (Tuesday, August 25)

As a result of the incident, the 57-year-old female pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

The crash happened at around 1.35pm on Barns Street, Ayr, and involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a pedestrian.

Police in Ayrshire are appealing for witnesses and information following the serious road crash.

Sergeant John Bradford, from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident take place, was in the area at the time, or has potential dash cam footage, to please come forward.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident 1648 of 25 August.”
