TRIBUTES have been paid to caring Ayr dad-of-two who will be ‘forever loved’ after his tragic sudden death last week

Johnny Myers suffered a massive heart attack at home on Tuesday, August 4, he was just 35.

He married his wife Diana Myers, 39, in September 2018 after they were together for four and a half years.

Johnny, who was a roofer before losing his job due to the coronavirus pandemic leaves behind a young family, two boys, Jordan Lou Myers and Ryan Myers and three stepchildren, Chloe, Rachel and Sophie.

Heartbroken stepdaughter Rachel Haggerty told the Advertiser: “Johnny was a loving, caring man.

“He had two beautiful boys and three stepchildren.

“He and my mum were together for four and a half years.”

“He loved his wife and his family to bits; he was just a loving family man that had an amazing relationship with his wife as they both loved Rangers.

“His bond with his beautiful three-year-old was indescribable, he will forever be loved.

Johnny was also a keen footballer and played with amateur club Wallacetoun AFC.

The club shared a touching tribute to him.

A spokesperson said: “We had really tough news this morning, losing another Toun legend in Johnny Myers.

“He never managed to make his over 35s debut this year, but will always be remembered at Wallacetoun.

“Totally gutted, thoughts go out to all the Myers family.

“Rest easy Myers – PS ‘You’ll never walk alone.”

Devastated pals have rallied round the young family by raising an incredible £5,206 in less than a day to help them with funeral costs.

Johnny’s wife Diana thanked everyone for showing support.

She said: “This is totally overwhelming, and I can’t begin to put into words how much this means to me the support and love everyone is showing and how my beautiful husband meant so much to many.”

Rachel added: “His wings were ready, but our hearts were not.”

Johnny will be laid to rest at Ayr Cemetery on August 21 at 1pm.
