A PRESTWICK dessert shop was deliberately torched last night as police hunt man in dark hooded top.

Popular Flakes on St Quivox Road has suffered damage to the shops front door and carpet. 

No-one was in the shop at the time of the fire.

Emergency services raced to the scene around 11.45pm on Monday (August 3).

Police have launched a probe into the deliberate first which say has affected someone's livelihood. 

Detectives are looking to find a man who was seen outside the shop before the fire took hold.

He is described as around 6ft 4 inches in height, with an athletic build and was wearing dark coloured hooded top and trousers.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the deliberate fire and have appealed to the public for help.

Officers have been out today carrying out door-to-door enquiries today in the area and gathering CCTV footage.

Detective Sergeant Craig Semple said: “This deliberate act has affected someone’s livelihood. I am appealing to anyone who may have any information to contact us.

“Did you see the man prior to the incident or see him run off. Any small piece of information could prove vital in helping us identify the person responsible for this criminal act so please do pass it on.

“Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Ayr Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 4180 of August 3.

“Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give your information anonymously.
