THE body of a man has been found within a parked car on a layby near Ayr.
The A77 between Holmston Roundabout and Whitletts Roundabout was closed last night after emergency services raced to the scene around 6pm.
The body of a 46-year-old man was discovered by paramedics.
Police are treating the man's sudden death as unexplained.
Officers carried out enquiries at the scene and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to the A77, near Holmston Roundabout at Ayr, around 6pm on Saturday, July 25, by the ambulance service following the sudden death of a 46-year-old man.
"The man had been found within a parked car in a layby and the road was closed while officers carried out enquiries at the scene.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
