SCAMMERS have targeted a popular restaurant by using a copy of their online competition.

Scotts in Troon offered customers the chance to win a £50 spend at a table this weekend as diners are welcomed back to the Buzzworks venue.

But another post impersonating their official Facebook page emerged Advertising a “give-away” and asked people to part with their credit card details.

The scammers had made a complete copy of the Scotts page which shows identical appearance and branding.

In response the restaurant which is situated at Troon’s stunning Harbour posted a message last night to warn loyal customers that the other page was a scam.

A spokesperson said: “Our Facebook page and recent competition have become a target for scammers.

“These people are impersonating our Facebook page using our appearance and branding telling customers they have won our recent competition.

“Not only that, but they are asking winners to follow links to surveys, downloads and forms that require credit card details.

“Please do not supply any of these details, we will never ask for your credit card details. If it doesn't feel right it most likely isn't.

“Our competition is still running, and a winner will be picked tomorrow! Best of luck and stay vigilant to scammers.”
