MORE than 300 incidents of fly tipping were dealt with by South Ayrshire Council’s Waste Management Team during the coronavirus lockdown.
Since March 23 the team have been working round the clock to adapt to the way they operate to ensure essential household waste and recycling collections continued.
A staggering 1.8 million wheeled bins and food caddies were collected, and as well as fly tipping the team actioned over 80 complains.
The team joined forces with East Ayrshire Council to prevent rogue traders from collecting waste.
The council highlighted all the good work carried out by the selfless bin men and staff who also ensured Household Waste Recycling Centres were ready to re-open last month.
