A NEW gym could be set to open in the Blacklands if plans are approved.

An application to change the use of Unit 2 Kelvin Avenue, Kilwinning for use as a gym was submitted to planning chiefs earlier this month.

Planning documents state the main fitness area would cater for a membership of more than 200 clients, with an office area for disability client/specialist services, office area for small group/semi-private sessions plus changing and toilet facilities.

A statement from BetterU Fitness Ltd said: “The size of this unit offers the ability to incorporate all aspects of the business within one facility.

“Due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions this area would be able to delivery services in line with social distancing measures

“Given that the majority of current clientele come from the KA13 postcode area this location provides a perfect location with regards to local memberships.

“The accessible nature of the estate allows easy access from across Ayrshire as prominent location close to A78.

“The health and well-being agenda post COVID-19 will be a huge opportunity for business growth in the health sector.”
