AYR’S Gaiety Theatre has gone virtual with a brand new lockdown channel packed with a vast programme of activities to cheer people up.

Whilst the curtains are closed at the Carrick Street venue, the team behind the on stage magic have been working hard behind the scenes to bring the new channel.

A series of workshops in Filmmaking, Drama, Writing, Art and Music is set to bring something for everyone.

Some of the workshops include how to create films, writing with poets

The Gaiety have teamed up with some of the UK’s leading artists to get people involved, with the workshops designed for meeting new friends, trying something new and having a great laugh whilst tackling social isolation.

Robbie Gordon, Associate Director of Creative Learning said: “Get yourself ‘a wee dose of happiness’ by signing up now. I’m really excited to be launching this new service specially for people in South Ayrshire”.

“This is all about having fun and trying something a bit different. We’ll have plenty of support on hand if anyone isn’t sure about taking part over the internet. And for anyone who is feeling a bit down and needs a bit of encouragement, we’ll be able to provide that too. Give it a try.”

The sessions are split for older or retired people, and younger around the ages of 16-25, they are the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people and try something unique.

The online sessions started from Tuesday, June 30 and will run each week., with 12-2pm for older retired and 3p-5pm for 16-25 year olds.

Sign up today for a refreshing change of routine and have a much needed laugh. Visit the new Gaiety Lockdown Channel website at www.lockdown/thegaiety.co.uk or sign up by phone on 07716 942083.
