FORMER Ayr star Stephen Kelly has made the step up to the Scottish Premiership.

The Rangers youngster has penned a one-year loan deal with Ross County after a sensational season with the Honest Men last year.

The midfielder, 20, signed a new three year contract with the Light Blues before being sent out to the Staggies for another year’s loan.

However, it is understood that the Ibrox club have a January break clause as part of the deal.

Talking on the move Kelly said: “I’m delighted that I’ve now got another couple of years with Rangers to try and get into the first team.

“I had a loan spell with Ayr United which has paid off and hopefully I can now keep working and keep progressing in the years to come.

“I definitely think I am capable of playing top flight football.”
