A PROJECT helping disadvantaged young people in South Ayrshire has been awarded a cash boost from BBC’s Children in Need.

South Ayrshire Befriending Project has been given an incredible new grant of £107,433 towards their work which offers 1:1 support.

The funds were raised during the Children in Need’s 2019 Appeal in November and will help reduce social isolation, develop confidence and self-esteem, and encourage the young people to make friends and have fun, whilst enabling them to have their voices heard.

Fiona Mackenzie, Senior Project Co-ordinator said: “We’re delighted to hear that we have been awarded with this funding from BBC Children in Need.

“We have been delivering this project now for a number of years and we know what a huge difference it makes to the young people that we support.”

Speaking of the new grants, Florence Burke, National Head of Scotland at BBC Children in Need said: “We’re delighted to have awarded South Ayrshire Befriending Project with this funding, which will open up so many opportunities for local children and young people.”
