Three seriously injured adults and three young girls were taken to hospital following a crash near Spittalhill.

The incident on the B7038, which happened at around 12.45pm yesterday (Sunday, June 28), involved a blue Peugeot 206 and a grey Volkswagen Passat.

Emergency services attended the scene and two seven-year-old girls were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.

Two men, aged 36 and 38, and a 34-year-old woman were taken to Crosshouse Hospital with serious injuries, along with a three-year-old girl with minor injuries.

The road was closed for seven hours while police carried out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, of Glasgow's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our investigation into the crash continues and it's important we establish exactly what happened here.

"I am appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the accident or were driving shortly before it to come forward as soon as possible.

"I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to get in touch."
