TWO teenagers have been charged with attempted murder after an attack in Prestwick on Saturday night.

Police have confirmed the boys, both aged 16, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident which took place in Boydfield Gardens around 8.35pm, which left a boy aged 16 with a severe head injury.

The two youths arrested are due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court today.

Boydfield Gardens was sealed off to the public on Sunday morning as officers investigated the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that two male youths, both aged 16, have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Boydfield Gardens, on Saturday, 20 June, 2020.

"They are due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court today, Monday, 22 June.

Residents in Prestwick have been told to expect extra officers on the street following the incident.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Area Commander at South Ayrshire said:"We will continue to conduct high visibility patrols in the Prestwick area to provide reassurance to the community. 

"I would remind parents, guardians and carers to talk to young people about the concerns of anti-social behaviour and the consequences of getting involved in such activity."

"The local community can expect to see an enhanced police presence in Prestwick over the coming weeks".
