A POPULAR local restaurant reopened for takeaway food during the coronavirus lockdown last week – and the decision proved to be a massive hit.

Ayrshire hospitality giants Buzzworks reopened one of their most popular establishments, Lido Troon, for takeaway service only last Friday.

It was the chains first steps to try to return to normality after restaurants, pubs and bars were all forced to shut in mid-March due to the deadly COVID-19 bug.

But eateries are slowly emerging from lockdown to serve up meals again.

Buzzworks have joined the party and the decision proved a hit last weekend as hundreds of diners lined up throughout the evening to collect their orders.

After reopening on Friday, May 22, Lido will offer food from Thursday to Sunday every week with collection slots between 4.30pm and 9pm.

A new takeaway menu has been produced too, with favourites such as Thai chicken, fish and chips, tempura and chicken burgers all on offer.

Lido Troon’s Facebook page announced the news early last week, and it was well received by the local community.

They said they were excited to open again but asked punters to remember guidelines.

It remains to be seen if Buzzworks will reopen any of their other popular venues throughout Ayrshire.
