The body of a man was pulled from the River Ayr earlier on today.
Police were called to an area of the river in the town centre shortly before 11am but it was too late, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a body in the River Ayr, near Ayrshire College, around 10.50am on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
"We attended alongside the fire service, ambulance service and coastguard. A man was removed from the river and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing. The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious."
