A young woman was left injured in a hit-and-run crash that killed a dog this evening.

Police are appealing for information following the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the the B742 between Mossblown and Annbank at around 3.15pm on Saturday, [May 9].

The crash saw a 21-year-old woman taken to hospital with serious injuries and resulted in her dog being killed.

Officers believe the vehicle involved, a red Vauxhall Astra VXR, with two men on-board, made off in the direction of Annbank.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who saw the vehicle before or after to get in touch.

Constable Greg Norwood from the Ayrshire Road Policing Unit based at Irvine, said: “This was a traumatic experience for the woman involved and we are keen to trace the vehicle involved.

“We believe the car will have sustained significant damage to the front offside and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.”
