AN AYR college make up lecturer has become an online hit after she transformed herself into famous people to inspire her students.

Alana Pignatiello, 38, has turned herself into Boris Johnson, Nicola Sturgeon, football star Cristiano Ronaldo and famous personal trainer Joe Wicks.

The mum- of-two, who teaches aspiring make up artists at Ayrshire College, wanted to set them a lockdown daily challenge.

Alana told the Advertiser: “It all started when we all got sent home from college and we went into lockdown.

“All the lecturers were thinking about how we could keep students occupied.

“So, we set up a daily challenge on Instagram with a make up theme, so whoever wanted to get involved would do it.

“The first challenge was the NHS, and that got some attention.

Ayr Advertiser:

“After that, people were asking me to do some make ups. Part of it is for the college, the others are ones that people have asked me to do.

“My son asked me to do the Joe Wicks one because he does his workouts every morning. Then people kept asking me do other ones.”

Alana, who stays in Paisley, shot to fame when Scots music sensation Lewis Capaldi reacted to her TikTok video showing the transformation into the ‘Someone You Loved’ star.

She added: “He’s a legend, he’s my favourite person in the world right now.”

Her work was even featured on a BBC Scotland show Socially Distant with Susan Calman on Thursday, April 30.

Another highlight was having Captain Tom Moore reshare her amazing half and half face showing the heroic 100-year-old in his younger days, and the current recognisable face who raised millions for the NHS.

The make-ups can take up to five hours, with Alana also using body paint to create a costume affect - with Cristiano Ronaldo a painted-on Juventus top. She even used her own hair to create Boris Johnson’s messy top, but now plans to get in wigs for even more characters.

Alana said: “It takes about three hours, trying to change my face into somebody else’s takes a lot of concentrating.

Mary Poppins took about five hours. But I love it, I find it really relaxing. I loved the Captain Tom Moore one, he was one my favourites to do. My kids love it too, but sometimes they can’t look at me.”

Alana has told how some people have been left in disbelief that the pictures or videos are her and not a drawing, with some even asking where they can get a copy.

And students have been left in awe at their super teachers’ talents.

She said: “I started it out to keep the students occupied and myself occupied.

“It’s unbelievable that it’s gotten to this level. They have been loving it, they have been reposting all the of the make ups. It’s inspired them to do something when they’ve got nothing else to do.

“We all love make up so it was natural for us to do. I’m delighted that they’ve liked it.”
