AN AYR festival will get the go ahead for this time next year.

But for now, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Go! Festival in Ayr has been postponed.

The highly-anticipated event was due to take place this summer on Saturday, August 29.

However, the organisers for Go! Festival have announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 24 in 2021.

The popular race meet includes a closed road half marathon, 10K and a family cycle route.

The team for the festival say they received lots of positive feedback about the organisation of last year’s event and will continue to make improvements for next year.

The organisers spoke to various parties at running and cycling exhibitions across the country as well to try and find some new ideas.

A spokesperson said: “With all of the country in lockdown at the moment, it is almost impossible to plan a major outdoor event.

“We are not even sure if events will be permitted in August.

“So, we have taken the decision to reschedule for Saturday, April 24, 2021.

“All entries will be moved to this date and full details are now on the website www.gofestival.scot.

“We are confident that the 2021 Go! Festival will be even more popular than before and early bird entries are now open on the website.

“Stay safe everyone and we look forward to seeing you in Ayr net year.

“Please share this information with your running friends and give them a chance to snap up early bird entry.”
