AN EQUESTRIAN centre near Symington will have an NHS tribute permanently in place for riders to jump post lockdown.

Muirmill Equestrian Centre has kept keen horse riders busy during the lockdown by running their own ‘design a jump’ competition.

The centre launched the online challenge encouraging people to get creative.

They tasked riders to design their own jump, with the winner being able to see their creation become reality as it will be built into a fence ready to be used once the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

Laura Jane McCabe, owner of the equestrian centre, was overwhelmed with the floods of entries and was particularly impressed with the number of tributes to NHS frontline heroes.

The entries were split into two groups of fun and NHS jumps.

The competition ran for two weeks, before the winners were announced.

Sarah Clark was the winner for her beautiful winged horses and runner-up was Piper Christie, aged 13 for tribute to frontline nurses, with drawings of two each side of a ‘Thank You NHS’ tribute plaque in the centre of the jump.
