AYRSHIRE hearing aid users will still be able to benefit from support during the coronavirus crisis thanks to the charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity is unable to hold its community hearing support events but is instead running a hearing aid battery service by post and offering information and support to those who need it.

Ayrshire resident John said: “Getting hearing aid batteries from Action on Hearing Loss Scotland has been so helpful. My daughter-in-law normally gets my batteries but she can’t visit at the moment because of the coronavirus outbreak. I was really worried that I would not be able to get my batteries sorted and not be able to chat with my wife, family or watch the television. This means I have one less thing to worry about.”

Anyone in the area who is looking for support with basic hearing aid maintenance or needs information on issues relating to hearing loss can call 07391 017781 or email: HearToHelp.Ayrshire@hearingloss.org.uk

Fiona Goodwin, from Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, said: “We want to offer as much support as we can to local NHS hearing aid users in what is a difficult time for everyone.

“Whilst it’s not currently possible to run our face-to-face service we do want to try and make sure that people with hearing loss can access support from us so that they can enjoy conversations with family and friends by telephone and internet.

“If anyone needs batteries for their NHS hearing aid or requires information on hearing loss please do get in touch.”
