A SOUTH Ayrshire school has shown tremendous generosity by making and donating masks to the NHS.

Marr College’s design and technology department have been working hard to create the Personal Protective Equipment.

This has been used by frontline staff to keep them safe tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

And staff at the secondary school’s tech department have produced 100 face masks to hand over to the health service to help with PPE shortages.

Across the country, concerns have emerged from key workers, who are more exposed to the deadly virus, about the lack of PPE available and its robustness.

But the Troon school have shown that during these tough times, community spirit can still shine through.

Taking to social media, Marr revealed that they have already donated the vital equipment, with more to be ready next week.

A spokesperson said: “Amazing job from the design and technology department.

“100 face masks produced today for donation to NHS staff.

“Thanks to Carrick Academy for sharing the design files. We will be dropping in to make some more next week.”
