A nursing auxiliary from Troon has raised funds to provide soothing hand cream to NHS staff.

Joanna Clarkson, 35, saw how workers at Crosshouse Hospital were harming their hands with the constant washing and alcohol gel usage required to protect patients from the transmission of coronavirus.

She decided to raise money to donate hand cream to for the doctors, nurses and other staff.

Joanne said: “I asked people to donate £1 and raised £120 which was the equivalent of 50 hand creams, 25 donated to ICU and 25 donated to children’s paediatric wards.

“I work as nursing auxiliary for the NHS. Our hands get so dry, sore and cracked with the constant washing and using alcohol gel that I thought it would be a nice thing to give back to the staff in these extremely tough times.”

Joanne’s 11-year-old daughter, Emily, helped out by wrapping the creams individually.
