A PRESTWICK GP surgery will close this week after an outbreak of coronavirus.

Kirkhall Surgery will close from Monday, March 23 until Thursday, March 26.

The Surgery confirmed there were a number of positive cases of COVID-19 directly linked to the practice.

And the practice has requested help from NHS Ayrshire & Arran to help them deliver services.

A spokesperson from Kirkhall Surgery said: “Due to a number of positive cases of coronavirus directly linked to the practice, and on advice from NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Team, Kirkhall Surgery has taken the decision to close to all patients temporarily until Thursday March 26.

“The practice has asked NHS Ayrshire & Arran to step in to support them to continue to deliver primary care services during this time and we will work together to manage the situation and limit inconvenience to patients."

Staff at the practice will continue to take calls between 8am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Telephone appointments are still available should you need to speak to a GP but any patient who urgently needs to see a GP will be asked to attend another GP practice.

Patients who have to collect prescriptions are being asked to telephone the practice to make arrangements to collect them from a local chemist.

For test results, patients are advised to call the practice after 2pm.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Team have advised that no patients are at increased risk.
