NHS Ayrshire and Arran insist Station 15 at Ayr Hospital will still play a vital role in the restructure of chemotherapy treatment.

The local health board are looking for people to get involved in the decision making process on proposals ahead of the deadline on March 8.

Health chiefs will then consider recommendations at a meeting of board members on March 30.

The Advertiser told how initial proposals left many fearing that Station 15 will be closed cutting off hundreds of patients.

But NHS Ayrshire and Arran say they will expand the day ward at Station 15.

Professor Hazel Borland, Nurse Director said:”I can reassure everyone that Station 15 at University Hospital Ayr is crucial to the success of this model. The proposal means that the Station 15 day ward will be expanded and developed so that we can plan to deliver more treatments for cancer patients who require straightforward chemotherapy, now and in the future.”
