THE popular Scottish International Airshow is in crisis after council chiefs threatened to pull funding.

South Ayrshire Council have fired a warning that they will 'instruct' officers so serve a termination notice on their grant funding after TSIA breached an agreement.

The event, which was set to go ahead this year after a break in 2019, owes thousands to creditors and an external third party.

Council chiefs claim that organisers have breached a number of terms of the agreement over funding the local authority pay to the event.

Now they want £80,000 paid to organisers 'in error' to be used to settle debt.

Organisers were given the chance to 'rectify' issues, but have failed to do so.

TSIA are said to have provided two proposals to settle the issue, one of which was to jointly agree with SAC the termination of the grant, with the airshow able to retain £80,000 as full and final settlement.

But they would be required to pay back customers and business who have already made contributions towards the 2020 show set to be held in May.

Today the council decided to request Head of Regulatory Services to agree a settlement for the termination of the grant (MoA).

Acstatement by South Ayrshire Council reads: "Today at Council, the decision was taken:
"To request the Head of Regulatory Services to agree a settlement with the organisers providing for the mutual agreement by both parties to terminate the MoA, and confirmation that the figure of £80,000 paid to TSIA in error represented full and final payment of any liabilities due by the Council to TSIA in terms of the MoA or the 2020 Event; and in the event that the Head of Regulatory Services could not agree this settlement, to agree to terminate the MoA and to instruct officers to serve a termination notice on TSIA in accordance with the MoA."
