PEOPLE from across South Ayrshire are being encouraged to sleep under the stars again all for a very good cause.

The 2020 Somerset Sleepout is being staged at Somerset Park on Saturday, April 11, after Ayr United’s home game against Alloa Athletic.

Money raised will go towards Ayr-based charity SeAscape, who tackle the many poverty and homelessness issues in their own community. They are encouraged to sign up for the event and help raise funds to support the many projects SeAscape operate to alleviate hardship.

As spokeswoman for SeAscape said: “Last year’s event attracted about 300 people and it helped raise £10,000 for SeAscape,

“It would be great if we could match that total this year.

“This year we are highlighting the problem of fuel poverty and how people struggle to pay energy bills.

“I’ve been in some houses where it’s colder outside than inside and that’s a worry.

“I’m hoping people from the community will take part in the sleepout to help boost our funds.

“Anyone can get involved and under-16s are free.

“We will be serving tea, coffee and bovril on the night.”
