BUSINESSES are being urged to push the boat out when a special anniversary event is staged in Troon this summer.
The 75th Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund will see children with special needs being driven down the coast for an unforgettable day.
Since 1945, thousands of taxi drivers have donated their time and effort to make the Outing Fund the annual success that it is.
“Most of the drivers don fancy dress costumes, much to the delight of the children and the people who line the route through Glasgow and in Troon itself.
Money is raised for the event across the community, with auctions run by Connie Girvan of Girvan’s pub accounting for a big proportion of it.
Troon Community Council chairwoman Helen Duff is looking forward to the event, which should once again attract a bumper turnout in the town.
She said: “We want to make a big effort this year and plan to have a fancy dress theme for the community council.
“Hopefully businesses will decorate their windows.
“We plan to hand out certificates to all those who take part so that they are all officially recognised.”
