THE heartbroken family of a tragic Ayr mum who died in her home say her ‘children were her life’ as they prepare to say their final goodbyes.

Kirsty Robertson will be laid to rest this week after she was found dead at her home on Fulshaw Place in October last year.

The 29-year-old’s body was released after numerous forensic investigations were carried out, but police confirmed the death is still being treated as ‘unexplained’.

Her devastated cousin from Girvan, Lynne Sykes has told how it’s been hard to ‘process her death’ after a 12-week long wait.

She said: “It’s been 12 weeks between Kirsty passing away. So many things have happened and it’s been very difficult to actually appreciate that Kirsty’s not here.

“There hasn’t been that time to process her death because we haven’t had the funeral.”

Kirsty tragically lost her immediate family from a young age, her mum died when she was just 10, her brother when she was 17 and she lost her dad when she was 24.

Lynne has told how despite the loss and suffering in Kirsty’s life she “excelled at being a mum”.

She said: “Kirsty lost all her family young. We have always been there. I’m related to Kirsty’s dad, we were all there for her, and she did remarkably well to come through these things.

“Kirsty lived for her children. All she ever wanted to be was a mum and something she absolutely excelled at it. Her children were her life.

“They wanted for nothing they went to every club going. Kirsty took them to all these places, she didn’t drive, she did it because she wanted the best for kids.

Lynne has also spoken of overwhelming support shown by the community who helped raise thousands to go towards helping Kirsty’s children and the future.

A total of £3,000 was raised after pals set up an online fundraiser with more charity nights including a club night at Madison’s and a night at shoot soccer helping to raise cash.

Lynne told how it ensured Kirsty’s two children had a “wonderful Christmas”.

She added: “There has been an overwhelming amount of generosity displayed within the community by fundraising bingos, charity nights and donations to just giving page.

There has also been trust funds set up in order for them to have some future savings.

“The justgiving page set up by some college friends of Kirsty’s raised a wonderful amount of money for her funeral.

“Friends, family, members of the public and complete strangers contributed to a total of £3,000 which shows just how much people thought of and loved Kirsty.”

The family have welcomed all to Kirsty’s funeral which will be a celebrant service within the Hamilton Arms on Thursday, January 16 at 1.15pm.

Kirsty will be buried with her dad and brother at Bynehill Cemetery at 2pm.

All congregation will be further welcomed for tea and a chance to share stories and tales back at the Hamilton Arms.
