KIND-Hearted council staff dug deep over the festive season to ensure underprivileged children across South Ayrshire woke up with presents on Christmas.

A campaign saw various festive Giving Trees put in place at eight Council buildings, with labels attached containing a young person’s name and age.

Employees then took a label from the tree, bought and wrapped a gift for the child before returning it back to the three with its label attached.

All 412 tags were quickly snapped up, and the presents delivered to be opened on Christmas Day, with the lovely gifts making sure the day was special for so many children and their families.

Eileen Howat, Chief Executive at South Ayrshire Council said “We’ve had a fantastic response from staff this year, with hundreds of presents donated in just a couple of days.

“I’d like to thank everyone who donated their generous gifts this year, all of which will help to add a little sparkle to the lives of hundreds of children and young people on Christmas Day.”
