TRADITIONS both old and new will bring together people in the spirit of Christmas.

On Behalf of the Vale of Clwyd Mind mental health charity, Blaenau Ffestiniog's Royal Oakley Silver Band will join the Mind Tones ukulele group and the Denbigh Male Voice Choir at Rhyl Town Hallon Saturday, December 14 at 7pm.

Combining the bright, happy tones of the ukulele with the classic Christmas appropriate sound of the brass band, and choral music, the evening will offer a varied programmer to ensure even Scrooge himself get in the festive spirit!

Formed in 1864, the Royal Oakley Silver Band became one of the most famous and successful bands in Wales during the 1900s.

They have regularly won a host of prestigious prizes at the nation Eisteddfod and Welsh Championships, as well as performing at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000 as the reigning Welsh champions.

Last year, the band appeared alongside ITV's X Factor finalist Macey for S4C's Christmas Special. For the Evening, they will perform form their wide repertoire including film scores from The Lion King, Star Wars and James Bond as well as more traditional Christmas music, West End showstoppers and hits by Robbie Williams.

The Mind Tones - a band which offers members of the Vale of Clwyd Mind group the opportunity to combat social isolation through music - began life with just three members before growing to include more than 20 today.

This year, the group performed at the National Eisteddfod in Llangollen, where they presented an incredible rendition of The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.

Adding to the incredible pedigree of this event, the renowned Denbigh choir will also bring a selection of seasonal songs to guarantee the perfect Christmas mood setter.
