Police are probing a serious assault after a young man was stabbed at Troon Harbour.

A 27-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen with an unknown sharp implement at around 6pm on Thursday, November 28, at Harbour Road.

He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Ayr where he was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is believed to be male and drove off in a black vehicle, possibly with roof bars, which had a further three or four occupants within.

Detective Constable Paul Gartland, of Ayr CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack. We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area around the time of the incident.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2894 of 28 November, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
